My story

Hi!  I’m Shaunna. I began blogging in 2009, and what began as a hobby quickly turned into a passionate brand and business.  My writing and work at Perfectly Imperfect led me to publish The $50 Home Makeover, open two retail locations as well as my online store, air the pilot Sweet House Alabama with HGTV, and was honored to have my home, work, and writing featured in multiple publications.

At the heart of it all, though, was me, at home, typing my words and keeping my hands in paint.

My experience in e-commerce business, retail, and design led me to work in business coaching with friends and partners across the country to help other businesses with branding, marketing, as well as collaborate to design their spaces.  It all led me to co-found the Creative Exponent Community & Podcast. It was a full, beautiful season of my life.

After receiving a life changing diagnosis, things got much simpler around here. You can now find me here & on Substack, writing & making art. Doing what I have always done.

Typing my words & keeping my hands in paint.

I hope this place brings you a little joy & makes you feel less alone, a little bit of hope that we can carry both grief & beauty. That you get to feel everything. Thanks for being here, friends.

I stayed very busy, and chose with intention. I was fortunate enough to partner with some incredible brands and be featured by so many people and companies I respect. You can check those out below. 😊
