A Year in Paint (& how it will save me)
Well. I have decided on a thing. Sometime in September, after I received my diagnosis, I began painting every day again.
If you have followed me online for any length of time, you know paint has played a major role in the creative work of my life. From painting thousands of pieces of furniture or kitchen cabinets for clients to abstract pieces for my shops to projects that adorned our home and made their way onto the internet via my blog to designing homes, restaurants or hotels, to pursuing art in a typical brush to canvas approach beginning in 2019, paint has woven its way into almost every creative pursuit my fingers have touched the last fifteen years.
I published an entire book about it, for goodness sakes.
There is simply something about having a brush in my hand. The humble act of picking up the handle signifies a new beginning, a promise for something next, and maybe even the hope of experiencing a little magic.
